Game Shows Game Design Fastest Finger

Joe Styles

Joe started with Cat and Mouse as recent graduate in January 2007. Coming from a creative background using After Effects, he launched straight into learning our new graphics system Ventuz and helped integrate it into our working processes.

He has since gone on to create the real time graphics system for various shows, whilst working alongside our developers to combine the graphics with the show control system.

He created the graphics system that represented the computer ‘SAM’ in the recent ITV1 show Who Dares Sings. This was a show that used a computer system to judge contestants’ performance.

Joe worked on the BBC2 show Brainbox Challenge which involved contestants solving 5 out of the 20 different graphical games that could show up daily.

Graphics Assistant

Working with the graphic designs for the particular show Joe rebuilds them into our 3D system, whilst also applying the basic logic to control the various real-time animations to animate between the different graphic states.

On some shows Joe is involved from the early pitching process where a basic graphics system has to be built up quickly to sell the show. An example of this is It’s Not What You Know by Challenge TV where he developed the graphics and a basic control system. He then later developed the full show system working alongside graphic designers.

Other shows for which Joe has created graphics systems are BBC Northern Ireland’s Panic Attack, BBC 4’s Only Connect, S4/C’s O ond 1 and BBC’s children's show Hot Rods.
